Sandy is about 13 miles south of downtown Salt Lake, with about 97,000 residents (2020 Census). The Jordan River runs along its western edge and four TRAX Blue Line stations run through it.
Much of Sandy's housing is single-family homes from the 1970s through the 1990s, with newer townhomes going up.
Sandy's median single-family home sold for about $720,000 in the second quarter of 2026, with a wide spread by ZIP: about $561,000 in 84070 on the west side up to about $860,000 in 84092 on the east bench (Salt Lake Board of Realtors).
Canyons School District. Depending on the address, Sandy is served by Alta, Jordan, Hillcrest, Brighton or Corner Canyon high schools.
Dimple Dell Regional Park, with 630 acres and more than 15 miles of trails; America First Field, home of Real Salt Lake and the Utah Royals; and the Hale Centre Theatre. The city's Cairns plan is turning the area between I-15 and TRAX from 9000 to 11400 South into a downtown.
